View of the Baltimore inner harbor from the boat
We, or I am back on track after Matt and Nat's wedding. It was great to see all my friends from college. The Garrow's have a great family compound on Captiva and the rest of the CC'ers stayed at a house down the road, so we had time to hangout on a very short trip. Nicole had some appointments back in NY and will be back soon (she better be, I can't do all this boat stuff by myself :-). I can't say enough good things about Tidewater Marina. They took good care of our boat while we were in Captiva and having a car to be able to run errands with was amazing.
Yesterday I had a windless day motoring from Havre de Grace to Hawks Cove at the mouth of the Middle River. I wouldn't anchor there again. They are taking all of the material dredged out of Baltimore harbor and constructing an island. The machinary on the island hummed throughout the night and there wasn't too much around. There were also several danger signs on the shore (probably telling me not to anchor) but I couldn't quite make out what they said.
Today was a short hop to Baltimore and the anchorage in the inner harbor has a better location than any marina. I am anchored at the base of the Baltimore World Trade Center between a submarine and the U.S.S. Constellation. Even though the guide book says that it is an anchorage, I couldn't believe it until the police patrol boats passed by multiple times without telling me to move. I am a two hour trip up river, so I think I will be here for a few days and take advantage of my waterfront condo in downtown Baltimore.
